Good to know…

Upon arrival at Rait Antiques Centre you will find yourself in a gravelled car park and approximately forty metres from all of our units.

Apart from one, the multiple buildings in which we operate are all on ground level and are connected by a mixture of gravelled and paved pathways . Most are accessible by wheel chair with the exception of a split level flooring in The Mill Room and the stepped entrance to Dark Island.

Please refer to the site map below and the dropdown menus for more a detailed breakdown of accessibility at Rait Antiques Centre.

  • Parking at Rait Antiques Centre is free and is permitted all around the site in unmarked spaces, on a gravelled surface.

The most convenient and wheelchair friendly spaces are found at the immediate entry point by The Cartshed and The Bothy. From these parking spaces all vendors are within approximately forty metres.

  • Court one is a ground level store hosting several dealers.

Entry is from a gravel pathway over a low lipped threshold. Double doors make it wide enough to accommodate wheel chairs and prams.

Inside, the space is carpeted. Some of the shop units have rugs on the floor and furniture displayed in the aisles which may limit access in places.

  • Court Two is a ground level store hosting several vendors.

Entry is from a gravel pathway and through a double doorway.

Upon entry the immediate space is wheelchair and pram friendly. Further into the store is a level access route to the Turnip Shed.

  • Accessible entry to the Turnip Shed is via Court Two through a double doorway.

Inside, the vendors display rugs and furniture on the floor which can limit access to some parts of the far end of the shop floor.

The Turnip Shed can also be entered via the Mill Room however this route is not wheelchair accessible.

  • The Mill Room has two entry points. Wheelchair friendly access is via Court Two and through the Turnip Shed.

A second entry point is via a stepped doorway (indicated on the map by parallel lines) directly from one of the parking areas. This route is not wheelchair or pram friendly.

A split level floor means that half of the Mill Room is raised and access is limited.

Large furniture items on display may also limit access to parts of the shop floor.

  • The toilet is reached via a paved pathway.

Wide doorways are wheelchair and pram friendly.

Inside the room is equipped with grab bars.

  • The Cart Shed hosts our Tea Room. It is accessed from the carpark.

A level threshold and double door frame make the space wheel chair and pram friendly.

Whilst the environment is lively, noise levels are low.

  • Entry to the Sawmill is via the gravel courtyard. It is accessible by wheel chair through a double door with slightly lipped threshold.

The space is on one level .

  • The Bothy has a 2 inch step on entry and door width of 30 inches which may not be suitable for wider wheelchairs.

It is accessed via the gravel courtyard, and inside it is on one level with a carpeted floor.
